What to Expect
When your cruise ship stops at the port of Livorno, why not disembark and take a private excursion to the must-sees cities of Florence and Pisa? Visiting Florence, the birthplace of the Renaissance, is like strolling through an open-air museum, while Pisa is home to the world-famous Leaning Tower and you can't return home without a photo of that! Miles of gorgeous Tuscan countryside separate Florence from Pisa, and you'll get to enjoy them as you ride between the two in the comfort of an air-conditioned Sedan or minivan.
Florence and Pisa from Livorno Port Itinerary
After meeting your driver at Livorno’s cruise port, sit back and relax on the scenic journey to Florence (about 90-minute drive) where you will meet your guide. Here, enjoy a three-hour private walking tour in the company of an art historian who will unfold for you the city layers of history. The tour itinerary highlights all of the main sights and some of the smaller hidden places in between what is considered the heart of the historical city center of Florence.
Over the course of the visit, you will explore Piazza del Duomo, with its brightly colored, marble-clad cathedral and baptistery. Along with Ponte Vecchio Bridge and Piazza della Signoria the tour route includes skip the line access into the Accademia to view and learn about the statue of David of Michelangelo.
After a pause for lunch on your own, (your guide will gladly suggest some favorites!) you'll head to Pisa, one of Italy's most popular destinations. Leave Florence behind and enjoy a 1-hour scenic ride through the rolling landscapes of Tuscany. On the way, a stop at Piazzale Michelangelo offers you an astounding panorama of the Renaissance city.
The celebrated Leaning Tower of Pisa is just one of the splendid monuments that rise from the emerald green lawns of the Piazza dei Miracoli, or "Field of Miracles". Enjoy an hour of free time to explore the dazzling cathedral, baptistery, and of course, the Leaning Tower – for that all – important photo op. When the time comes, your driver will accompany you back in Livorno with plenty of time before the ship sails.
