What to Expect

This private guided Florence street food tour combines architectural commentary, historical facts, local culture and culinary insight into a unique local experience. The ideal tour for those who wish to experience local life, both past and present, by exploring everything within a section of the real Florence, from the great highlights to where local Florentines go to shop.  We will introduce you to our favorite family-run bakeries and specialty shops that retain the authentic atmosphere of days long past whilst also discovering all the best spots along the way.

Florence, town of artistic and cultural treasures, hometown of painters and sculptors, writers and poets is also one of Italy’s most celebrated foodie destinations. Get under the skin of the culinary scene by exploring the tastiest spots of Florence.  Follow your personable guide through the city’s most renowned streets where cherished eateries blend with the medieval and renaissance architecture, which has remained intact over the centuries.

Be awed by the grandeur of Piazza della Signoria and the Ponte Vecchio Bridge with its evocative scenery mirrored in the Arno River. Along the way, your guide will share some little-known history of the area and point out cultural landmarks. Then dive right into the city’s culinary scene with a visit to one of Florence’s most authentic markets. Stop at selected food stalls overflowing with fresh produce including seasonal fruits and vegetables, fish, cheeses and salt-cured meats. En route you’ll taste several specialties including Tuscan salami, schiacciata, coffee and pastries. Plus, unlike some food tours, pick the tastings you want to try on this 100% personalized experience.

Tour FAQs

What about the food?

We have carefully selected food tastings in partnership with our vendors that reflect the uniqueness of our area and its food scene, and this Florence street food tour is not an a la carte-type setting. These selections may include focaccia, Tuscan cold cuts, coffee and, if the season is right, gelato. Vegetarians can be accommodated.

Is this Florence street food tour suitable for kids?

Yes! A food-focused walking tour is an all-time favorite for families. Not only does it offer the chance to try specialty foods from vendors that you may not discover on your own, but also families get to explore some of Florence’s quaint, lesser-traveled neighborhoods. Aside from that our tour isn’t purely a history tour or tasting experience but a mix of both. This means there’s plenty of information to keep our younger guests entertained. Not to mention this is one of our most requested kid-friendly tours in Florence.
