Uffizi Private Tour
What to Expect
First opened to visitors in 1591, the Uffizi Gallery is one of the world’s oldest museums. Covering an area of some 86,000 square feet, it also happens to be one of the biggest. And just in case that weren’t compelling enough reason to visit – it’s the best art collection in all of Italy! All of that can make the Uffizi Gallery pretty overwhelming. Our Uffizi private tour follows a carefully planned route through the gallery, guided by one of our experts who knows the collection in and out and can steer you around the crowds.
Uffizi Private Tour Itinerary
The itinerary begins in Piazzale degli Uffizi with an overview of the historical and architectural context of the Uffizi palace and a discussion of the early period of the Florentine Renaissance, laying the groundwork for themes we will discuss in depth once inside. From the piazza, we will enter the museum with a timed appointment and spend quality time immersed in one of the greatest art collections in the world, which includes works by masters of the Italian Middle Ages and Renaissance.
Uffizi tickets are (quite understandably) in high demand and during busy seasons in particular, general access lines can stretch for hours. With pre-reserved tickets, we minimize the wait. Meanwhile, our friendly guide keeps our Uffizi private tour relaxed and enjoyable. Skip the usually long lines and head straight into artistic enjoyment as your guide takes you on a timeless journey through the best of the collection. Your guide will walk you through this incredible museum, teaching you to distinguish different styles in different ages, so you can see how techniques developed over the centuries – and how the Renaissance changed everything.
Discover masterpieces by greats like Cimabue, Duccio and Giotto. Gaze at the real Renaissance classics, including, perhaps most famous of all, Botticelli’s ‘Primavera’ and ‘Birth of Venus’. As your guide winds you through the endless art-filled corridors, you’ll be entertained with stories about the interesting and sometimes odd artists behind every brush stroke and every tap of the chisel. Learn about the legacy the painters of this particular era left by exploring later pieces by Titian and Caravaggio. It all adds up to more than just an Uffizi tour – it’s a voyage through time!
It goes without saying that a visit to this Gallery is perfect for anyone who wants to see Italy’s rich cultural and artistic heritage come to life, right before their eyes. However, this Uffizi private tour also offers an intriguing second glance for seasoned visitors, with an in-depth exploration of the themes that have made these works so enduring.
We’ll end our Uffizi private tour on the rooftop terrace, so you can continue to explore the galleries for longer if you wish – your ticket is good for the day. As you explore, try to apply the ideas and knowledge you’ve just learned. By the time we part ways, you’ll feel like you have a real grasp on how Florentine art changed the world, not to mention affected our modern ideas of beauty!
