Rome Private Tour Itinerary
Our Rome private tour will start at 8 a.m. - or the time you will indicate - when you meet your driver at the Civitavecchia cruise dock. He will take you to Rome (about 90-minute drive) where you will meet your guide. With your guide and driver, you will have the chance to visit the highlights of Rome providing the perfect introduction to the city.
The day’s first stop is the Colosseum where you will enjoy skip the line admission. Step back in time as your guide unveils its bloody and infamous history and the amazing events once held. A short stroll ends up at the incredible ruins of the Roman Forum, which lay about 30 feet below the current level of the city. Once inside, you will visit the most significant buildings and temples where the most important figures in ancient times spent their days.
For a complete feast in ancient history climb to the top of the Capitoline Hill where the genius of Michelangelo has left its indelible mark in the form of the magnificent complex known as Piazza Campidoglio. From the Capitoline terrace, a breathtaking view of the ruins of the Roman Forum will encompass the once magnificent epicenter of the ancient city.
The Rome private tour will continue driving along Via dei Fori Imperiali to reach Piazza Venezia where you will notice the impressive Victor Emanuel Monument, which commemorates the unification of Italy in 1870. Next stop will be Trevi Fountain: be sure to toss in a coin to insure your return to Rome! This would be a good moment to take a rest or to have a quick break for lunch or a gelato.
Experience the Roman culture on your ride past the Via del Corso, the main street of Rome's historical center. Not far are the lively Spanish Steps, a must-see in Rome. Then you'll head to the Pantheon Square, where the Pantheon - one of the greatest and best preserved Roman temples in existence is located.
At around 3.30 p.m. the Rome private tour will end at the charming Piazza Navona, with its Baroque treasures and charming cafes. On the way back to the port, your driver will pass by Saint Peter's Square with its amazing colonnade designed by the genius of Bernini and the imposing Basilica of Saint Peter's.
