Best of Puglia in a Week Tour
Upon arrival in Bari train station/airport, we have arranged a private driver to take you to the hotel of your choice and your base for exploring Italy’s Puglia region. The rest of your day is yours to do as you please!
The gleaming white town of Ostuni sits atop the vast olive-carpeted plateau of Murgia. This morning you will take a walking tour through its fascinating streets lined with whitewashed buildings. Then visit an olive oil mill in the heart of the wonderful Itria Valley. Here you will taste different extra virgin olive oils produced by this farm and learn about the traditional method of olive oil process. After returning to your accommodation, the remainder of the day is at leisure.
The magical cave city of Matera aka the ‘City of Stones’ is located in Basilicata, but because it is so close to Puglia, it is definitely a must see destination if you are in Puglia. Explore this city of art with its unique ancient urban structure still intact. Later visit one of the most popular vineyards of this area tasting its excellent wines. After returning to your accommodation, the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Enjoy the picturesque old city of Bari Vecchia. Take a walking tour along the pristine narrow lanes full of ancient traditions. Here you will even see local ladies who still make homemade orecchiette pasta outside their homes. Alberobello will crown your day with its timeless, fairy-tale beauty. The town is Itria Valley’s premier location to see the charming and unique trulli, the cone-shaped stone houses distinctive to Apulia. After returning to your accommodation, the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Today is yours to spend at your leisure.
Today’s excursion takes you to the beautiful walled town of Otranto, overlooking the Adriatic coast. On a walking tour here, see the imposing 15th-century Aragonese castle with its traditional moat, and the famous cathedral whose impressive wall-to-wall mosaic floor was created in 1166. Later discover the thriving city of Lecce. The jewel in the crown of Spanish Baroque in Italy, and a city cultured enough to be nicknamed the “Florence of the South.” After returning to your accommodation, the remainder of the day is at leisure.
The white and gleaming Locorotondo village is certainly one of the most unique places in Puglia. You will visit this characteristic circular village and finally enjoy a mozzarella and burrata cheese tasting in an authentic local farm. Here you will also experience the art of mozzarella making with a local producer. After returning to your accommodation, the remainder of the day is at leisure.
Arrivederci! After this incredible week, today it is time to say goodbye to beautiful Puglia. We have arranged a private transfer to take you from your accommodation to the Bari train station/airport. Buon viaggio!
