Overview

With contemporary rooms, a private jetty and a rooftop bar with showstopping views, this canal side spot has a long and distinguished history of welcoming guests. Originally built as a 16th-century inn, this historic property has undergone several transformations throughout the centuries. It was fully renovated in 2007 and has recently been refurbished to maintain its timeless charm and modern amenities. At the center of the hotel is the Campiello, a Venetian-style courtyard covered by a glass roof, which bathes the restaurant in natural light. The bar is decorated in plush fabrics, and there’s a handsome velvet-lined library and media room.

The 165 rooms — including 16 suites and 4 junior suites — are all elegantly decorated in soothing neutral tones, with light oak parquet floors, sumptuous drapes and blond wood furnishings. They all come with soft goose-down “Starbeds” and are well soundproofed against any street noise, to ensure a good night’s sleep. All the sparkling white marble bathrooms have powerful rainfall showers and house brand lotions and potions.

The American-style buffet breakfast will set you up for the day. Take a sightseeing break for afternoon tea served in the bar and tuck into delicious sandwiches and pastries. In the evening the chef at Le Maschere restaurant creates traditional Venetian dishes, such as fritto misto and beef carpaccio with rucola and parmesan. Enjoy aperitivi in the bar, lounging on a velvet sofa as gondolas drift past the windows, and don’t miss the signature cocktail — a mix of gin, aperol, vermouth and vodka topped with grapefruit juice — and showstopping views of the city from the fifth-floor Solana bar.
